The Penn Hawaii Youth Foundation works with at risk youths from non-profit or public agencies.  We are now accepting at risk youths from the following non-profits:  Salvation Army, Keala Pono, Hale Kipa, Lanakila Learning Center, and Honokaa Girls Home.

The non-profits select the at risk youths in their programs by evaluating their circumstances and then referring them to our program.  Kids ages are 12 to 17.  We have 2 training sessions annually.  One in the Spring and one in the Fall.  The program is scheduled for 8 weeks, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30pm to 4:30pm (one hour).

We are the added value program that helps these at risk kids to learn about martial arts, the discipline of learning new skills, and the confidence of building their inner positive spirit.  They have the opportunity to interact with other kids. It makes them interact with others because martial arts is a hand to hand combative skill.  It also humbles them to learn what martial arts is all about.

We also teach them the responsibility of giving back to their community by doing community projects.  Several projects we have done are cleaning the beaches.  One of our highlight community events was working with the County, a local artist, and our kids to paint a beautiful ocean mural on one of our bathroom facilities at a beach in Keaukaha.
